The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden) by Julie Kagawa
It's understandable to hate those that think so little of humans - those that treat humans like cattle. That's why Allison has spent her whole life hating the vampire society of New Covington. When she finds herself dying at the hands of rabids, she's given a chance to live, but it goes against everything she's ever believed. Allison will either die or become one of those that she hates most.
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa was unlike any other vampire novel I have ever read. I do admit that I had my doubts with it being a book from Harlequin Teen, but I decided to give it a try anyway and I'm so glad I did. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat telling yourself, "Just one more page."
I recommend this book to anyone that loves vampire, paranormal romance and young adult novels. While The Immortal Rules was written for teens, this is a book that can be enjoyed by adults as well. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something new.
The writer of this review was provided a copy of the book from NetGalley in exchange for the review.

THERON – Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.
From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life—silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.
She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.
As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Interview With June Spears: Indie Author of the Blood Moon Chronicles Series
I started writing when I was in grade school. Winning a poetry contest and mine became the school song there after. I wrote mostly poems for years and about three years ago I decided to write this series. It only took me about one month to complete the first draft and three years to get it to where it is today.
What genres do you write?
I mostly write fantasy but I have also written some literary fiction.
Who do you imagine you're telling a story to as you write?
I imagine myself inside the story. This brings out better emotion in my characters.
What's your latest book about?
Conceived (Book One in the Blood Moon Chronicles) Is about a young girl whose life gets turned upside down by the handsome stranger in her dreams. She can no longer tell where her dreams end and reality begins. This is the beginning of a whirlwind of events that will keep you hooked all the way through the series.
Which authors inspire you?
I am a sucker for the likes of Stephanie Meyer ad P.C. Cast
What's your favorite book?
Twilight Series
Why did you choose independent publishing?
My editor suggested I give it a go.
What one piece of advice would you offer other indie authors?
Be confident in your work. Take feedback, good or bad, and work with it.

You’re Only 18 Hours Away From A Potential Best Seller
That’s how long it takes to put all the strategies in this Kindle selling guide to work. Learn how to:
You risk massive failure if Amazon doesn’t rank your book in the first page of its search engine results. What keywords are people using to find books like yours? As an SEO expert I’ve gotten every one of my client’s books on the first page of Amazon’s search results. I use Amazon’s little-known “Leading Indicators,” a series of clues that tell you exactly what keyword phrases people use to find a book like yours. I show you how to discover and use them to attract Amazon’s search engine.
That means writing “Oceanfront” book descriptions and using font styles like italicize, bold, and utilizing color and pictures to make your page look like a million bucks. Notice how the formatting on this page sets it apart from the competition. It reads better, looks better and communicates value. You can create this kind of look in your own book page with my step-by-step guide to using Amazon’s HTML code. Just copy/paste and you’re done.
Of course Kindle marketing takes more than SEO and an attractive landing page. That’s why I show you how to come up with titles that pass the “scan test” and develop covers that create click-lust. For a complete table of contents, click the “Look Inside” button at the top left of the page. You’ll see how to:
• Pick the right categories to list your book
• Put a billboard for your book on your competitor’s page
• Pick from five of the most effective launch prices
• Test post-launch prices
• Get reviews that make people want to buy your book
• Overcome “pre-buyers remorse”
• Ensure your book is an effective after-sales ambassador
Meantime, you should know that I have some heretical views. Namely, that…

Less than 10% of the U.S. owns a Kindle E-reader. That means over 90% of people who visit your sites can’t buy your ebook because they don’t have anything to read it with! Stick to marketing within Kindle, not outside of it.

Fringes by Jennifer Strand Review
Fringes by Jennifer Strand
What can learn about someone from mere glimpses of her life? Are you able to make better judgement than you would with only a first impression? Fringes is a coming-of-age novel that takes a closer look into the lives of several college students, but focuses mainly on Sarafrina, a young girl with a very complicated life.
The first chapter of Fringes was incredibly unique, giving readers an instant glimpse at the main character in a new way. Instead of a description of her character or scenes that would give us a better understand of Sarafrina, we are shown the contents of her backpack, which seem to say more about the character than any description ever could. Of course, it wasn't just the first chapter that had me intrigued. I was also impressed with how certain chapters read more like beat poems than a traditional novel.
I'll admit that some areas of the book were hard for me to read. As a Southern Christian, I was turned off by the same-sex sexual scenes, which seemed to consume the book. However, this is solely my opinion. I will warn readers though that this is not a book to be read by those under the age of 18 due to the sexual content and references to drugs.
If you enjoy deep, coming-of-age novels, Fringes by Jennifer Strand might be just what you're looking for.

Interview With Indie Author Joshua Cook: Author of AiZ: Alice in Zombieland
When did you begin writing?
I began writing when I was younger, but most of those were just for me and never saw the light of day. As I grew, writing became more and more of a hobby until it eventually vanished under the weight of real life. I began writing non-fiction articles online about seven years ago, but it still stayed more of a hobby than an actual job. It was during this time that I realized how much I missed writing, so I focused more on turning my hobby into a career. Then, about a year ago, I hit a very dark and low point in my life. During this time I lost my job, so with nothing else to do and jobs becoming harder to find, I created my own job. That is when Zombie A.C.R.E.S. was born, as well as my full time writing career – and I am never looking back.
What genres do you write?
Luckily, I am still able do a lot of freelance and business writing, and am taking on new clients when a good job comes across my desk. As far as my fiction writing, it has taken so much work to get Zombie A.C.R.E.S. up and running that I have not had much time to branch out past zombie and horror stories. Now that Zombie A.C.R.E.S. is at a point where I can spend more time elsewhere, I will be actively searching for new writing opportunities and anthologies that will allow me to grow as a writer and stretch beyond the horror genre.
Who do you imagine you're telling a story to as you write?
I don’t imagine telling stories to anyone in particular, really. I just listen to the story. Every story I write takes on a life of its own. I’m just the guy that writes that life down.
What's your latest book about?
AiZ: Alice in Zombieland (Complete Saga) is about family, love, and zombies.
William Lohman, a recently deceased man, held an interview that was seen by the entire world. In this interview, he told of how the largest pharmaceutical company in the world, Roslun Global, has been conducting secret experiments meant to revive the dead, among other atrocities. Mr. Lohman was taken quite seriously seeing as how he was obviously one of these experiments, what with the decay and all.
This interview knocked over the first domino in a long series of setbacks for Roslun Global, and the company’s greedy CEO Richard Roslun. Richard was not known for being subtle or calm, but he was known for getting results…at any cost.
Nine years has passed since that historic interview changed the world forever. People have learned to live with the idea of zombies, much the same way they learn to live with many modern diseases; it’s a terrible thing, but it doesn’t affect them. Until it does, that is.
Georgia ‘Gee’ Marie is a typical college student. She enjoys reading and hanging out with her friends, smoking a little weed and going to work. Her life is pretty mundane, until she returns one day to visit her father. Gee finds her younger sister being attacked by her mother, who has just finished feasting on the rest of the family. Gee and Alice are about to begin the greatest trials of their lives. Not only will their will to survive be tested, but the bonds that hold them together as family and loved ones will be pushed to their limits.
Gee and Alice are not the only ones to be affected by the terrible actions of Richard Roslun. Sam Ashe and his fiancée, Heather Young, have just moved to a nice neighborhood in Seattle. Their new neighborhood is beautifully manicured, right down to the last tree lining the street. This area was chosen for its aesthetics, but also for its safety. According to several of Sam’s favorite zombie reporting sites, a very low number of incidents have been reported here.
This is why Sam is caught off guard one night after an intense gaming session when he sees a shambling zombie. Thinking of his love, he heads off to save Heather from the inevitable zombie outbreak about to occur. Their path is not an easy one, and again, human emotions will be stretched to the limit. If you have ever been in love, and I mean true love, then Sam and Heather’s tale will grab you by the heartstrings and never let go.
Which authors inspire you?
I have always looked up to legendary authors like Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, and Douglas Adams. Once I jumped into self publishing head first, I have gained a new sense of inspiration from fellow indie authors. When it seems that the world is out to make sure you fail, or at least to make your dream seem almost impossible, indie authors keep pushing to make their dreams come true. I respect this winning against all odds attitude, and in my dark times when I want to quit writing, I look to this winning attitude to help me through these dark times.
What's your favorite book?
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I can read this series over and over again and enjoy it as much as the first time. Douglas Adams’ crafted a great and epic story that mixed his unique sense of humor with unbelievably intelligent, yet easy to understand, concepts and science.
Why did you choose independent publishing?
While this road is much tougher, and requires more work than I have ever put into anything, the rewards are phenomenal. I control where my work is sold, how it is published, and most importantly, how it sounds. With major publishers, there seems to be more of a need to make it mainstream or saleable; which does not always translate into a better story. I like to know that the story that is out there is mine, and not what some guy in a suit thinks it should be.
What one piece of advice would you offer other indie authors?
Go out there and never give up. Like I said, this is the hardest road that I have ever had to go down, but when I stand at conventions or do interviews and say ‘I created this’, my insides get as giddy as a school girl. I always tell anyone who wants to be a writer to just go out there and do it. If you don’t succeed the first time, just keep trying. The thing to remember is that no overnight success happened overnight.

'AiZ: Alice in Zombieland' takes place in a world that is much like our own. The sky and water are blue just as the grass is green. Every day, people are going about their business, most just trying to make ends meet. Politicians still get on the television and lie to cameras and the good people of the world.
This world has one stark difference from our own – the living, and talking, dead. This is not an apocalyptic scene of destruction and despair (yet!), but hope for the living is dwindling with every waking moment.
William Lohman, a recently deceased man, held an interview that was seen by the entire world.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa - KBOD
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
$8.54 (6/17/2012)
In a future world, vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die…or become one of the monsters.
Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.
Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.
But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.

Interview With Indie Author Theresa Leschmann: Author of Destiny Steps In
When did you begin writing?
I recently discovered a piece I wrote in about 6th or 7th grade for school that was surprisingly pretty good but I didn’t “decide” to write until about 4 years ago. I had been encouraged to do so by a number of people prior to that but it took me a while to determine it was really what I wanted to do.
What genres do you write?
Several, actually. I write mostly suspense or what I hope are thrillers, some with a supernatural aspect, some not. I am also working on my first novel which is a western set at the time of the California Gold Rush. Another project is a romance. My genres vary with the inspiration but I’d say my love is a good suspense or horror story.
Who do you imagine you're telling a story to as you write?
I have a group of close friends who live nearby, other writers actually, and I always imagine them reading my books first. They are equal parts similar to me and dissimilar to me so I think they make a good pretend reader. They have actually read almost everything I’ve written and are my sounding boards for ideas and such. Couldn’t do it without them.
What's your latest book about?
It is a collection of short stories written over the last four years, as I’ve developed my sea legs, so to speak. The stories have to do with choices the characters make and the consequences that follow. Some are funny, some are touching, and some are you-reap-what-sow stories. I really enjoyed writing them and putting the collection together. It’s the first of a series of planned short story collections.
Which authors inspire you?
Wow, that’s tough because there are just so many. I have to say Stephen King is my favorite. I love how he takes you inside the psyche of his characters and by the time you’ve finished the first or second chapter, you feel like you’ve known them forever. I am also inspired by Nicholas Sparks, James Patterson and Jane Austen.
What's your favorite book?
Nope, cannot do that. I most definitely do not have a single favorite. I have dozens of favorites. I read The Phantom Tollbooth to each of my kids as they grew up, complete with voices. I have read My Side of the Mountain several times. Books I couldn’t put down as an adult though, hmmm, Bag of Bones, The Wedding, Mary Queen of Scots and the Isles – a historical novel and The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker.
Why did you choose independent publishing?
I chose self-publishing for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I think it is the wave of the future. Secondly and specific to this book, I knew it would be difficult for a relatively unknown author to get a traditional publishing house to look at a set of short stories. As an author, you want people to read your work so this seemed like the best choice, for this book at this time.
What one piece of advice would you offer other indie authors?
If I could say just one thing to other indie authors it would be to follow your passion, no matter where it takes you. Chase your dreams and if you catch them, dream up another and chase that. Life is too short not to reach for those moments that change your life, make you who you are or just give you a moment’s satisfaction. Go for it.

Mentalpause and Other Midlife Laughs by Laura Jensen Walker
$6.64 (6/12/2012)
Do you often forget the words for common things, like "husband" or "bathtub"? Have you suddenly found sub-zero temperatures pleasant? Do you survive on chocolate supplements? Ask these questions of any woman who has been through menopause, is going through it, or is soon to hit it, and she'll say yes (and then, most likely, cry).Laura Jensen Walker went into early menopause after her bout with cancer and can sympathize with other "mentalpause" sufferers and survivors. As in Thanks for the Mammogram!, she uses hilarious vignettes and a delightful mix of wit and wisdom to connect with her readers. With chapters about how "All Varicose Veins Lead to Rome" and "PMS Is a Picnic in the Park," this book helps women dealing with "mentalpause" and those around them gain a better understanding--and certainly a lighter attitude--about this passage of life. Mentalpause . . . and Other Midlife Laughs will get readers laughing at themselves as they hear Laura lightheartedly describe her age spots, lament her sagging everything, and look anew at love after forty.

Demon Hunter and Baby by Anna Elliot
Her boss is a fairy, her ex-lover is a Knight Templar, and she spends her days fighting the demons that plague London's streets. But what's *really* complicating Aisling McKay's life is being a single mother to a nine-month-old baby girl.
Ever since the End Times, magic has been leaking into our world. Magic and demons, shadowy beings that possess humans' bodies and destroy their souls. The Monastic Order of the Knights Templar have revealed themselves to the world as guardians and defenders of the veil between the demon world and ours. But the Templar Order is growing weaker, and the veil is starting to shred and tear. Often all that stands between humans and complete demonic possession are professional demon fighters, Hunters like Aisling McKay.
Aisling already has enough to handle between her day job, her (very unplanned) baby daughter, Willow--and avoiding Kieran, Willow's father and a Templar Knight. But now a new danger is abroad in London--and facing it will set Aisling on a collision course with the past she thought she'd escaped for good.
Jack & Jill by Amanda Keenan
Jill, a twenty-eight-year-old comic book creator, moves to Chicago to escape the meddling people in her life. She works from home to avoid as many social interactions as possible. She hopes this move will provide the anonymity she needs.
On her first night, in her new brownstone, she meets her new neighbor, Jack Maurer. Jill spends her days constantly imagining the worst possible scenario when considering doing anything in her life, even running to the corner market. She never dreamed she would move in next door to an acclaimed film and television actor, who is currently the star of the number three rated, prime-time, cop drama, FBI: Undercover.
Jack terrifies Jill by being who he is. Jill wants nothing to do with him, but Jack won’t go away. Their relationship is competitive from the start. Jack always seems to have the advantage over Jill, until she realizes she can win when she lets go of her fear of Jack.
Babe on Board by Stephanie Zia
Single Motherhood At 40 Is A Very Bumpy Ride!
Molly Warren travels the world for her work and has a gorgeous long-term lover. But, after 5 years the alarm bells on Molly's biological clock are in meltdown whilst commitment-phobe, man-of-the-world, Max is allergic to domesticity. When Molly becomes pregnant, Max runs and Molly finds herself alone, without a job and broke.
Determined to remain independent, she moves to a tiny rental apartment on the edge of London. There, an unexpected romance enters her challenging new life in the most unlikely of places: a mother and baby group full of contented, married, mums. The mothers bond in their admiration for Caroline's exotic student gardener, a French perfumier studying orchids at Kew Gardens. Through one long, hot summer, Christophe teaches the group about the philosophy of perfume, wreaking havoc amongst the housewives of one of London's greenest, prettiest, and wealthiest, suburbs. When an affair breaks out, Molly finds herself at the centre of suspicion - for all the wrong reasons. A heady, perfume-filled romance you won't want to put down till you've smelt the final page.

Lillian Grace Duncan knows she’s in for a long night when a much needed girls-night-out begins with a wedding ring funeral. Hers. As owner of Mom by the Minute, a handy-mom agency, mother of twins and a hormonal fifteen year old (what girl isn’t at that age), Lilly balances work and single motherhood like a trapeze artist.
When a new client falls ill and enlists Lilly’s services to prepare her estate and donate her husband’s treasures to charity, Lilly is forced to work alongside the client’s nephew, Jagger Davis, a thirty-something southerner who returns to his northern roots to care for his ailing aunt.
Freed of her wedding ring and empty hopes for a marriage that once was, Lilly lets her hair down, enjoys nightlife with her girlfriends, shotguns some margaritas, keeps a few secrets, and falls off the wire for The Prince at the Corner Bakery.

She thought she could handle these episodes by pushing them back into her mind. Until the day she sees one of her classmates morph into a monster right in front of her eyes. Pushed to the brink of paranoia, Avalin truly believes she's insane. Then a mysterious man named Albert comes into her life. 3 Free Kindle Books About Ghosts for Teens
Destiny's Dwellers by DC Daugherty
When fifteen-year-old Destin Shaw dies in a car accident, he finds himself alone in an afterlife where the living can’t see or hear him. But before he has time to accept his fate, he encounters another dead teenager, Jillian, on a snowy, country road. Destin reluctantly follows her for what she claims is the next phase of his existence.
Soon Jillian initiates Destin into the Dwellers—deceased children who help living people die without painful memories. In time, he welcomes his new reality and family, and he learns more about life than when he was actually alive.
But the Dwellers hide their own dark secrets of a past now told in ghost stories—tales of murder, betrayal and sacrifice. To make matters worse, something evil is lurking in the shadows. If Destin decides to pursue the truth, he will risk paying the ultimate price.
His existence.
Jane Doe by J.T. Kellerman
Adopted from India as an infant, Jane Watts doesn't really match the rest of whitebread Waverly, Indiana- especially not since she started shaving half her head, and wearing a shroud.
Harboring renewed feelings for the boy who broke her heart the year before, Jane finds herself at odds with her best friends. Lori Campanella has decided to cash in her V card in the back of her boyfriend's van, slightly-trashy Nic Holliday has decided it's a great time to start sneaking around with coffee baristas, and virgin-til-marriage Gaby Sutter holds them together until they start keeping secrets from themselves, and each other.
A perpetual underachiever, everybody's cover story, and nobody's number one, no wonder Jane befriends a dead girl- a Jane Doe that has all of Waverly talking.
But it's what happens after popular Lissa Knox goes missing that changes everything.
Secrets, lies, sex and death- Waverly, Indiana probably isn't the place you go when you want to be important, but it's the only place Jane's ever been.
Perpetual Night by Georgina Morales
A NEW novel from Georgina Morales.
"Lilibeth is a sweet fifteen-year-old with a great relationship with her Mom but recently she's been plagued by nightmares. When her dreams start to permeate her everyday activities she wonders about her grip on reality. Every nightmare becomes more frightening and ominous figures follow her during day; will she be finally institutionalized by her worried Mother or is it all real and she's about to receive a great gift from beyond?
Perpetual Night is a gripping original and disturbing short novel in all the best of ways."
