How to Prepare for a Zombie Attack

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there has been a cultural shift of what’s now cool in the mythical world. A couple years ago it was all about vampires and werewolves who fell in love with teenage girls (weird huh?). Now with shows like “The Walking Dead” and movies like “World War Z” it seems the new craze is revolving around the living undead. So the question many people have been asking is how do I prepare for a zombie outbreak?

1. Knowledge

The first thing you have got to understand is the mindset and physical attributes of a Zombie. Contrary to what is sometimes depicted on the big screen zombies are slow, dumb corpses that only want to eat you alive or dead. The problem is that once they bite you these creatures turn you into one of them so at all costs avoid contact with them.

2. Food and Water

This is not a hard concept to understand. You need to survive and during a zombie outbreak you will need non-perishable foods and water in abundance that is not compromised or infected by zombies. Make sure that you’ve created some sort of system that will enable you to get a constant source of food and clean water.

3. Weapons

This is a very important part of preparing for a zombie apocalypse. You have to understand that the only way a zombie will ever die is if you stab, rupture, or bludgeon a zombie’s brain. If you harm their body they will survive. This is what makes them a zombie. Swords, spears, daggers, bats, and machete’s are all a great start to finding a great weapon that you can always keep on you when your ammunition for a gun runs out. I recommend a machete for the simple fact that it’s a light and easy weapon to keep up with and care for.

4. Weapons Again

You need a gun. This is a simple truth. Let’s start with a side arm. A pistol is great for up close zombie to human action because it’s light, easy to maneuver within small and confined spaces and easy to reload. Cleaning a handgun isn’t that hard at all. A revolver verses a semi-automatic pistol will last you longer and is easier to clean so I recommend that you get a revolver.

5. Weapons yet again

You need a rifle of some sort. It doesn’t matter if you get an assault rifle, shotgun, or a hunting rifle. The hunting rifle is great in the distance. The shotgun is a great weapon to keep in close quarters because of the burst action. The assault rifle is a good gun that meets in the middle. I recommend you use the assault rifle.

6. Initial Outbreak

The element of surprise is the only thing that will give zombies an advantage and cause widespread infection in the beginning. You have to have a way that you will find out about zombies. I found a company called Smith Monitoring that specializes in Friendswood home security systems and Austin home security. I’m so thankful that I chose Smith Monitoring as my home security company. One of the great features of their security systems is that they send out alerts about any sort of natural disasters at hand or widespread emergency situations that arises. It is perfect for a zombie outbreak.

One way or another find a way to protect yourself from zombies. You have to know when they’re coming and you have to be ready to combat them.
