Interview
with Tonya Kappes
1.
If
you could live a day in the life of a fictional character, who would
it be?
It
would by my fictional character of witch June Heal. She is a good
hearted helper and wants to really help everyone who comes in her
store. She’s a good friend and a loving family member. She has it
all!
2.
What
is your all time favorite book? And what books are currently on your
nightstand?
The
Giving Tree….I hope you don’t care it’s a children’s book! I
adore it because I try to be as kind and loving and find the joy in
every bit of life. The Giving Tree is a great lesson for all ages and
it’s a favorite gift to give someone too.
Currently
I’m writing, so I don’t have anything on my nightstand but pen
and paper for the late night character calls I get in my head while
trying to catch some shut eye.
3.
If
you weren’t an author, what would your dream job be?
Well,
I’ve had that job too. I was a child therapist before I was able to
write as a full time job. I love children and loved helping them and
families. It was a wonderful job that lifted my spirits. I still keep
my certification up just in case the book gig goes south.
4.
Do
you read and/or comment on reviews? I do not read reviews. Everyone
is subject to their opinion and regardless of what it is, I will
continue to write because it’s my passion. Plus I know not everyone
is going to like my voice and that’s okay with me.
5.
A
lot of your books have include magical elements. Where does that
inspiration come from? Oh! Growing up I loved to watch shows like
Bewitched, Mork and Mendy, and I Dream of Jeannie. I think all of
these shows played into a fun make believe of what if and helped me
escape from the world a little bit. That is my goal as an author. I
want to give my readers a fun light book where they don’t have to
think so much and are able to get lost into a make believe world
where they can escape from the every day life stress.
6.
What
is one question that you hear too many times during interviews? And a
question that you wish someone would ask? Which literary great would
you like to have dinner with, dead or alive. I LOVE all
questions about my fur babies and human babies!
